Around 2 pm, the trawlers got stuck in the water at a distance of 5 to 7 km from Kuakata beach and sank due to heavy waves. At that time the fishermen of other trawlers behind them rescued the fishermen of their drowned trawler and brought them to the Alipore Fishery Landing Centre.
