The main accused in the case, Apon Chhota Bhai, has been arrested by the police in connection with the murder of a mason named Kabir Howladar (55) due to a land dispute in Kalkini of Madaripur.
Madaripur District Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Alaul Hasan confirmed this information in a press release of Kalkini police station on Sunday afternoon.
The arrested accused are Sabur Howlader (49), son of deceased Altazuddin Howlader, Sabur Howlader’s wife Lipi Begum (41) and their two sons Aslim Howlader (22) and Aslam Howlader (19) of the village of Dakshin Janardandi of Kalkini municipal area.
In the press briefing, it was said that Farid Howladar, son of the victim, filed a murder case in Kalkini police station and accused 4 people in the murder case. Later, with the help of the police, all the accused were arrested within 24 hours of the incident. Two of them were arrested from Mustafapur in Madaripur and the other two from Keraniganj in Dhaka. A seven gear knife used in the murder was recovered from the accused. The arrested have been sent to jail with recovered evidence.
Farid Howladar, the son of the deceased Kabir and the plaintiff in the case, said that my father was hacked to death like an animal. Those who killed my father are none of mine. They killed my father for a small piece of land. I want my father’s killers hanged.
During the press briefing, Madaripur District Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Alaul Hasan, Kalkini Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Hasan, Investigation OC Margub Tauhid and journalists were present.
It is to be noted that there was a dispute between two brothers about the land of South Janardandi in Kalkini town area for a long time. As a result of this, on Saturday afternoon, in a conflict between the two, the elder brother Kabir Howlader was cut with a sharp weapon and injured by his younger brother Sabur Howlader and his sons. Farid Howladar, son of the deceased, filed a murder case in Kalkini police station accusing 4 people in this incident.
