4 accused in Muntaha murder case in Sylhet remanded for 5 days

The police gave sensational information after the recovery of the body of the missing child Muntaha Akter (5) from Kanighat, Sylhet. A police official said that the child’s body was originally buried in the mud in the pond. After the arrest of a young suspect, her mother wants to take the body out of the pond and throw it in a pond near the child’s house early Sunday morning to give a different look to the incident.

However, the woman was arrested by local people on the way.

The arrested woman’s name is Alifjan (55). He is a resident of Birdal Kanarifaud village of Kanighat Sadar Upazila. And the child Muntaha is the daughter of Shamim Ahmed of the same village. The child went missing on November 3. Later his body was recovered by the police.

According to the police, the child’s body was originally buried in the mud in the pond.

After the child’s body was recovered, angry local people vandalized Alifjan’s house and set it on fire. Later the police stopped them.

Rewards were also announced for Muntaha. Meanwhile, the police arrested a young woman named Shamima Begum alias Morjina (25) on Saturday night and took her to the police station. Shamima also tutored Muntaha privately. His mother Alifjan and old grandmother live in Shamim’s house

The arrested are- deceased Maina Mia Alifjan (55) and her daughter Shamima Begum Marzia (25) of Birdal Khanarifoud village of Kanaighat police station, Islam Uddin (40) and Nazma Begum (35) of the same area.

After the kidnapping of Muntaha, the court remanded the 4 accused in the murder case for 5 days.

Kot Inspector Jamshed Alam confirmed that the court granted them a 5-day remand after bringing the accused to the court yesterday.
