Former UP member Anarul Islam was attacked by Muktar Hossain, Shahin, Maruf, Tajimuddin and Abu Bakkar in front of Baniapara Government Model Primary School on Sunday night. The injured Anarul was admitted to Kushtia Sadar Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. Anarul’s wife Papiya Khatun eloped and married Shaheen for love, since then Shaheen’s family has been at loggerheads with the UP member, locals said. Meanwhile, last Saturday (July 13) at around 11 am, a businessman named Riaz Uddin (47) was hacked to death by cousin Riaz Uddin (47) due to a land dispute in Shanpukuria village of Ward No. 7 of Chapra Union of Upazila. It is known that there was a dispute with the deceased Riaz over the land of his cousin Haroon. Harun had an argument with Riaz on Saturday morning. At one point, Harun and his men attacked Riaz’s house. They cut and injured him. Locals rescued him and took him to Kushtia General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead around 12:30. On the other hand, Akkas, a resident of Darbeshpur village, went to take out excess rainwater from his elder brother Azad Pramanik’s paddy field through the government culvert. At that time, when they engaged in an argument with Alai and his four brothers, the residents of that area over the cutting of the land, they pushed and beat Akkas and threw him into the water inside the land and held him in the mud. Later, others rescued him and took him to Kumarkhali Upazila Health Complex Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared Akkas Ali (50) dead around 5:30. Three separate cases have been filed in connection with the three murders.
