District Awami League member Jobaidul Haque Russell said in a courtyard meeting on Saturday evening on behalf of Awami League’s nominated chairman candidate Ibrahim Farooq, ‘Voting will be EVM but who will vote where will come to us. So there is no reason to fear, there is no tension.’ The video of his speech went viral on Facebook. Earlier on Friday afternoon, in the courtyard meeting of Dhandi Adarsh ​​Secondary School of that union, he said, ‘Only those who will vote by boat will go to the polling station. This has created apprehension about the fair voting in the public mind.
It should be noted that the election of Nazirpur-Tanterkathi union was held on February 7. The boat candidate Amir Hossain Bepari was elected. But he died on February 19 before taking the oath. Apart from this, a member of Ward No. 2 of that union also died. Due to this, by-elections are being held in this union and the election will be held on July 27. A total of 6 candidates are contesting for the post of chairman.
Awami League nominated chairman candidate Ibrahim Faruk was present in both courtyard meetings.
