Tarek Rahman, Tangail: Sadar Model Thana police arrested a young man who demanded money by opening his Facebook ID with the picture of Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) in Tangail. In this incident, on Friday (July 22) night, the process server of his office, Chan Mamud, filed a fraud case at the Tangail Model Police Station on behalf of UNO.
According to the source of the case, for a long time, Ishrat Jahan created a fake Facebook ID named Cynthia, using the picture of the executive officer of Sadar Upazila and fraudulently demanded money by giving her personal Bikash number to various people in the friend list of that ID. In view of this, Upazila Nibarhi Officer Ranuara Khatun warned the people by revealing the fraud from her Facebook ID.
Tangail Sadar Model Police Station arrested the fraudster on Friday afternoon. He is Bijoy Khan, son of Rahmat Ali of Bhara Union, Nagarpur Upazila, Tangail. Later the id is retrieved.
He mentioned in the case that the image of the administration has been severely tarnished due to fraudulent money claims and legal action should be taken against identified fraudsters.
When the recipient of the message asked UNO about the demand for money, he said that his Facebook ID was created and demanded money. He requested to publicize this incident of cheating on his Facebook ID to make everyone aware of the matter. UNO Ranuara Khatun said, when I asked everyone to give me a job from the ID made with my photo, I made a general diary at the Sadar Model Police Station when everyone reported me. I warn everyone on my personal and official Facebook account. Later Sadar Model Police station arrested him. However, the Sadar Model Police Station has been requested to identify the fraudster and take legal action against him.
SI Subal Chandra Pal of Tangail Sadar Model Police Station said that the accused was detained after investigation and made a general diary for the crime of cheating everyone by taking photos from UNO’s Facebook ID. Chan Mia Mamud, the process server of the upazila office, has filed a case against a person named Vijay Khan as the plaintiff.
