Expedition to Laksam 2 lakh 43 thousand rupees fined in 15 business establishments

The current government is implementing the “Compulsory Use of Jute Wrapping in Products Act, 2010” with the aim of domestic consumption of jute products. A total of 19 (nineteen) including paddy, rice, wheat, maize, manure, sugar, pepper, turmeric, onion, ginger, garlic, dal, coriander, potato, flour, flour and bran, poultry and fish feed under this law. The use of jute wrapping has been made mandatory for product packaging. The traveling court has fined 2 lakh 43 thousand rupees to 15 companies including 13 companies for not using jute packaging in Comilla’s Laksam market to ensure the use of jute sacks for storage and transportation of nineteen products and as a result 2 companies for mixing chemicals.
Laksam Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Farhanur Rahman conducted this operation on Tuesday (July 19) afternoon.
Some of the traders in the market said that the administration suddenly raided some small and big businesses in the market and collected an average fine of around 20,000 taka from each trader.
Laksam Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Farhanur Rahman said that according to Section 14 of Jute Production and Use Policy Act of 2010, 15 business establishments in Laksam market were fined 2 lakh 43 thousand taka. Other establishments in the market are also warned not to use plastic wrap.
