Unmanned foreign ship in Bhola Bay of Bengal estuary

Bhola district correspondent: A huge foreign ship named “Alqubatan” floated near the isolated island of Dhalchar of Dakshin Aicha police station of Charfashan upazila of Bhola in the Bay of Bengal estuary at the southern end of the country. Although the ship was completely unmanned.

On Thursday (July 14) morning, locals found the ship stuck floating in the Bay of Bengal on the eastern side of Charnijam. Later the locals reported the matter to Dhalchar UP Chairman and upazila administration.
The unmanned vessel carries an excavator (Vecu Machine), a stone crusher, stones and other necessary cargo. According to local people, the financial value of the goods in the ship is around 30 lakh rupees.
Dhalchar UP Chairman Abdus Salam Howladar said, “The locals informed me when they saw the ship floating on the eastern side of Charnijam. It was not possible to go to the spot due to bad weather. But efforts are on to bring the vessel into custody.”
Charfashion Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Al Noman said, “I heard that an UAE ship named Alqubtan has arrived in Charnizam.  Charmanika Coast Guard, Navy and local police have been informed.”
Officer-in-charge (OC) of South Aicha police station. Shakhawat Hossain said, “I heard about the foreign ship.  But Manpura police station OC said it is within Manpura area.”
