Riad Hossen, Gazipur: The concluding parade of the newly appointed 2nd class officers of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force has been held. Md. Akhter Hossain, Senior Secretary, Department of Public Security, Ministry of Home Affairs, greeted the chief guest at the concluding parade of training at the Iyad Ali Parade Ground of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Academy in Safipur, Gazipur on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force Major General Mizanur Rahman Shamim, Additional Director General of the force Brigadier General Khandaker Farid Ansar and Commandant Additional Director General of VDP Academy Mohammad Shamsul Alam, Deputy Director General (Administration) AKM Ziaul Alam and other senior officers and staff of the force were present. Among the 47 newly appointed 2nd class officers, Tofail Ahmed won the award for excellence in drill and Tanvir Ahmed won the award for best firing. Chief Secretary Senior Secretary Md. Akhter Hossain congratulated the trainees and said that the activities of Ansar and Village Defense Forces in the nationally important and urgent moment are commendable. Apart from performing its duties in various elections, the role of the forces is undeniable in the operation of railway protection, prevention of sabotage on highways and prevention of fundamentalism and militancy. Besides, it is contributing to the provision of public safety during various religious and national festivals.
