Workshop on Agro-Climate Information System Improvement Project held at Laksham

Comilla South District Correspondent : A project improvement workshop was held on Sunday (June 5) at the Upazila Parishad Hall in Laksam, Comilla, on the initiative of the Department of Agricultural Extension’s Agro-Climate Information System Improvement Project. Siraj Uddin Hossain, Comilla District Agriculture Training Officer, Department of Agricultural Extension, addressed the workshop as the chief guest. At the same time, he said, “As a result of timely steps taken by the agri-friendly government, we have shifted from subsistence agriculture to commercial agriculture.” That is why we have to work under the project to improve agro-meteorological information system The agro-meteorological information system has created new opportunities to take agriculture forward. This opportunity must be used He called upon the field level agriculture officials to provide immediate information to the farmers at the marginal stage of the project to know the advance information of agricultural weather. Upazila Agriculture Officer Syed Shahinur Islam presided over the function while Upazila Assistant Officer Habibur Rahman Khan, Assistant Officer Ali Ahmed and Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Abdul Awal also spoke. The day-long workshop was attended by 50 marginal farmers from different unions and municipalities of the upazila.
