Chatra League attack on BNP protest rally in Patuakhali

Shahin Khan, Patuakhali: It has been alleged that the BCL attacked the BNP’s protest meeting in Patuakhali. At least 10 members of Chhatra Dal and Juba Dal were injured in the incident. Four of the injured have been admitted to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital. District BNP member secretary Snehangshu Sarkar Kutti alleged that Advocate Golam Sarwar, joint secretary general of the central BNP, was present as the chief guest at a protest rally against the insults against Begum Khaleda Zia at the party office on Banani Road around 11:30 pm. Shortly after the meeting began, a group of terrorists led by Chhatra League leader Tanvir Arif launched a surprise attack. At least 10-12 leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal and Juba Dal were injured. They have been sent to the hospital.The injured are the district student leader Tanvir Islam, Abir Hossain, Obaidul Rahman, Hasan Bayati, Md. Kamal Hossain, Juba Dal leader Atiqur Rahman, Tawfiq Ali Khan Kabir, Faruk Hossain and others.Advocate Golam Sarwar, joint secretary general of the central BNP, said the attack on the BNP meeting at Patuakhali today with the help of the police was unprecedented. The government is carrying out these terrorist activities with the aim of establishing a dictatorship in the main country. Denying the allegations, Tanvir Arif, former joint general secretary of the district BCL, said that the BNP terrorists threw brickbats at the BCL procession from the Banani junction in protest of terrorism and anarchy. At that time we protested and resisted them. Patuakhali Sadar Police Station OC Moniruzzaman said that when there was tension between the two parties, the police dispersed both sides. Currently the environment is calm.
