Own reporter: BRAC’s Skill Development Disability Inclusive Vocational Training and Youth Employment Program has distributed various essential aids among students with disabilities in Pobaya, Rajshahi. Upazila Executive Officer Lasmi Chakma was present at the Paba Upazila office and distributed these aids among the students with disabilities. BRDB Officer Shamsunnahar, BRAC Regional Manager of Gender Justice and Diversity Program Mehedi Hasan, BRAC Skills Development Program Program Organizer Md. Disabled students and parents including Maruf Hossain, Light for the Disability Inclusion Facilitator Mumtaz Khatun. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Lasmi Chakma said that she welcomed this great initiative of BRAC to help the poor and backward people with disabilities. Note that the main objective of BRAC’s program is to provide employment through training of extremely poor, socially backward and school drop out students. To this end, training is being imparted to 72 students in the trade of Tailoring and Dress Making, Mobile Phone Servicing, Motorcycle Mechanic and Servicing, Beautification and IT Support Technician in various workshops of Paba Upazila. Out of which 44 female and 28 male students are undergoing training for six months. Travel allowance is also provided to the students every month for training. Glasses, elbow crutches, hearing aids were provided as part of the training so that students with disabilities could perform their personal and ancillary tasks normally.
