Md. Kabir Hossain, Rajbari: A special single-barreled single-barreled and a double-barreled gun and two fresh blue cartridges were recovered in a special operation by the Rajbari district police. At the press briefing, the Rajbari Superintendent of Police said that whoever is the culprit must come under the law. All those who have committed crimes and terrorist activities in the past have come under the law.
He said a group of miscreants covered their faces and demanded extortion of Tk 2 lakh at the house of Mohammad Moksed Ali Mandal of Bara Sawrail village under Kalukhali police station in Rajbari on June 29 at around 11.45 pm. At that time, his son Ariful Islam Arif, brother Salam and nephew Sabuj were beaten. Moksed Ali Mandal became the plaintiff in the case and filed a case with Kalukhali Police Station on June 30 under Penal Code 375/323/506/34. The police superintendent said, “I have been monitoring the incident myself since the incident.” Led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (Pangsha Circle) and Kalukhali Police Station OC Nazmul Hasan on July 8 at around 1:15 pm.
Taru Mandal, 32, son of Miraj Mandal of Kalukhali Bara-Sawrail village, was arrested from Pipulbaria area of Pangsha. After questioning the arrested accused Taru Mandal, he revealed the names of his associates Mir Kashem Fakir (32) and Majnu Mandal (45) and they were arrested from Bara-Sawrail area.
According to the information provided by Taru after interrogation, the weapon used in the operation was a single-barreled gun, a double-barreled gun and two fresh cartridges were recovered from the kitchen floor of Rashid Sheikh’s house in Bara-Saurail, Kalukhali.
Superintendent of Police MM Shakuzuzzaman further said that the arrested and absconding accused have been committing various crimes including extortion and robbery in Kalukhali, Pangsha and Rajbari districts for a long time. There are extortion and arms cases including murder, robbery in different police stations of Rajbari district in the name of the accused. Police have filed a case against the arrested accused with the Kalukhali Police Station on July 8 under the Arms Act. Kalukhali-01.
