Starting today, National Health Service Week


staff reporter : National Health Service Week starting from today on Tuesday, keeping in view this theme ‘Health service rights, Sheikh Hasina’s pledge’. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate this health care week at Bangabandhu International Conference Center at 10:30 am on Tuesday. The service week ends on April 23. Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek told a news conference at the meeting held at the Secretariat office on Monday. It was informed in the press conference that on the occasion of the service week, different programs were taken at national, district and upazila level. The programs include opening programs at national level, presentation of rallies, rituals, video documentary displays, clean-up campaigns, health care by specialist doctors, promotion of television, health seminars, voluntary donation planning, ethical issues related to medical care, health awareness and Nutrition Discussion The service week will be celebrated through the same program at district and upazila levels in coordination with the national level. Zahid Malik said that in light of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s plan, the present government has been implementing multi-purpose programs aimed at providing safe and quality health care to grassroots level people. It is necessary to inform the public about the overall service activities including the expansion of these activities, the duty of health care workers and employees of all levels. He said that presently there is no national program in place of health care despite reaching the doorstep of the people, despite the huge development of the health sector, people are not able to get specific information elaborately. The Health Minister said, the issue of overall health protection of a nation is very important. The overall development and progress of the nation depends on the overall development of public health. The people have already started getting the benefits of government’s breakthrough measures to improve the health, development, increase the quality of services and strengthen health management. He said that as a part of ensuring universal health care for the government to achieve sustainable development targets by the United Nations declared 2030, new specialized and general hospitals have been built in different districts of the country including the capital in the past decade. Zahid Malik said the government is making relentless efforts to encourage doctors to provide treatment to people from rural areas to improve the quality of health care. We want doctors to be involved in health care from the village. We are committed to prevent corruption or irregularities in the health sector. Whenever complaints of irregularities are being taken promptly.
