The ACC case against Moudud will continue


Staff Reporter: The High Court has dismissed the request made by BNP leader Moudud Ahmed for suspending the proceedings of the ACC in connection with the allegation of possessing property and possessing property information outside of known income. The High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman gave the order. According to the order, ACC’s lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan said that there was no barrier to prosecution in the trial court proceedings. On Monday, Barrister Moudud Ahmed himself heard the court hearing on his appeal. He was accompanied by lawyer Abdullah Al Mahmud. During the emergency, on 16 September 2007, Deputy Director of ACC Shariful Haq Siddiqui filed the case against Moudud in Gulshan Police Station. Deputy Director of the ACC Shariful Haq Siddiqui gave the chargesheet in the court on May 14. It is said that on July 23, 2007 the minister of the previous four-party alliance government secreted the information of assets worth 4 crore 40 lakh 37 thousand 375 in the assets statement submitted in the Anti-Corruption Commission. Apart from this, data of 7 crore 38 thousand and 237 rupees was found in his name, which is incompatible with the information of his declared income. On June 21 last year, charges were framed against Moudud Ahmed in the case after a decade of suspension in the court. Khurshid Alam Khan told reporters that the case is now in the witnessing stage of the Special Judge’s Court in Dhaka. Several testimonies have also been taken. Meanwhile, on March 31, Moudud Ahmed applied for the suspension of the proceedings. In the petition, he said that the High Court has a case against his financial case. The proceedings of this case are kept closed until they are settled. On March 4, the court rejected the petition and appealed to the High Court. Today the High Court has dismissed on Monday. As a result, the proceedings of this case will continue. Moudud came to the High Court several times before challenging the formation of the case and the courts have changed several times before the change. Every time his application has been dismissed.
