MT Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed Ekushey Padak to 21 eminent citizens and their representatives for their contribution in the field of self-respect. Agargaon handed over the honor to the medals in a colorful ceremony held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the city on Wednesday. Each gold medal of 35 grams of gold, one time and two lakh rupees and one honorary certificate were given. At the time, State Minister for Culture KM Khaled, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam, Culture Secretary Dr. Md. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal were also present. During this, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, Ekushey taught our heads to live high. From here onwards, the Bengali nation moves forward towards the liberation war. Earlier on February 6, the ministry of culture declared the names of 21 people. The Ekushey Padak recipients are: Late Professor Halima Khatun (posthumous), Golam Arif Tipu and Prof Monwara Islam Ekushey Padak in the language movement. And for the contribution of the liberation war, Kshitindra Chandra Vaishya has been given the medal. Singer singer Subir Nandi has been honored with the Padma Bhushan with the music of late pop star Ajam Khan and Nazrul music artist Khairul Anm Shakil. Ekushey Padak won the reserved seats MP and actor Suborna Mustafa; Actor Lucky Enam and Liaquat Ali Lucky got Ekushey Padak in the same category. The country’s first female photographer Sida Khanam received the award for photography and painter Jamal Uddin Ahmed. In the study, Biswajit Ghosh and Mahbubul Haq were given this award and Pranab Kumar Barua was given this award. Besides, Rizia Rahman, Imdadul Haque Milon, Asim Saha, Anwara Syed Haque, Mainul Ahsan Saber and Harishankar Zaldas got Ekushey Padak in the language literature. The government has been giving Ekushey Padak in recognition of special contribution in different fields since 1976 in memory of the martyrs of language movement.
