Weekly income tax fair has started in Chittagong City Mayor AZM Nasir Uddin inaugurated the fair at the GEC Convention Center in the city on Tuesday noon.
Service tax payers will be provided in 45 booths this year. There will be separate counters for return, e-payment facility, disabled and senior taxpayers, and there will be golden, public, and basic bank booths in Melangana. Income tax fair will have the advantage of submitting returns of old taxpayers, submission of income tax and accepting new TIN numbers. Taxpayers will get all kinds of benefits under the same roof.
Income Tax Department Chittagong Zone-1 coordinator and coordinator Md Motahar Hossain said that income tax fair is going to be organized every year just like every year to build social equality and fair finance system. Apart from increasing the public relations with the Department of Taxation, there will be encouragement for taxation. Since such fairs are being held in the ordinary people, taxis are being cut.
Tax department officials said 14,033 income tax returns were filed in the 2010 fair. Revenue collection is 40 crore 12 lakh 21 thousand 824 taka. The number of return filed in last year’s fair increased to 32 thousand 984. Tax collection was Tk 529 crore 70 thousand 981. Like the past few years, the highest and long-term taxpayers have been honored in the income tax fair. This award ceremony was held at GEC Convention Center on Monday.
According to the tax department sources, the fair is being held at the same time as the whole country. One day’s fair fair is being held at Chakaria, Ramu and Teknaf of Mirsarai, Lohagara, Chandanaish, Raozan, Hathazari, Boalkhali, Satkania and Cox’s Bazar districts of Chittagong. Sitakunda Upazila has been organized in the two-day fair.
