The elections will be held on December 30. The nomination papers can be submitted till November 28: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said that the Election Commission has decided to withdraw the eleventh parliamentary election schedule in response to the demand for withdrawing the election of the National Unity Front including BNP. He said, ‘We have decided to reschedule the schedule. The nomination papers can be submitted till November 28. The elections will be held on December 30.

The CEC said after the inauguration of the EVM fair at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital on Monday (November 12).

The CEC had announced that the elections will be held on 23 December. But on Sunday (November 11th) after the non-congressional decision to go to the election, the National Unity Forum press conference, including BNP, said they are going to the polls, but in this case they demand a month’s vote.

The CEC said, the date of the election was changed to 30 December, due to the request of various political parties, including National Ektra Front. The deadline for submission of nomination papers has been changed to 28 November. The commissioners took the decision in the morning and we have decided. The rest of the dates will be scheduled for tomorrow.

According to the previous schedule, the time for submitting the nomination paper was on November 19, on November 22 and the date for withdrawal of candidacy was given on 29 November.

Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam said We will not say EVM method is bad. So this is for your views. We will use EVMs for eleventh parliamentary elections based on your decision.

Other election commissioners and senior EC officials were present in the opening ceremony of the fair. In the open discussion, the Election Commission took the views of the visiting visitors.
