Mountains of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila are being cut arbitrarily at Khurushkul union. A 14-member ‘Dumpar syndicate’ is being cut off without permission from the appropriate authorities of the Government Khas land, forest land and private owned government. The allegations against the authorities concerned are playing silent role even after cutting these hills openly for the last one month.
Locals complained that the hills of Ruhulla, Dellpara, Adarshamgram, Tathia, Ghonapara, New Ghanapara, Fakir’s shop area, Khuruskul Banabit under the PMkhali ranges of Cox’s Bazar North Forest Division were going on cutting arbitrary hills. The hills are being privately sold and sold through 16/16 pickup (dumper). Plots of low-lying areas are being filled with these soils.
According to the sources, Kaiser, son of Nurul Alam of Adarshadagram area, Zaibul, son of Amir Hamza of Adarshadagram, Nawab Mia, son of Abdus Shukku of Kuliapara, Rafiq of Kuliapara, Babu of Ameer Hamza of Tateya Yusuf Fakir Para, Nasir of Timebazar, Jasim Chairman, Monirul Haque, Pamkhali Rashidul A syndicate of 14 people, including Alam Rasu and Jack Mistry, did not pick up 16/17 The day-night khurusakulera 7/8 are selling off the hill soil. Already they cut down 10/12 hills. But the concerned authorities are not taking any action against them. Because of which the hill is not stopped.
Locals complained that the dummy syndicate of Khurushkul is going to cut some hills for the past one month in the area of ​​Khulshakul’s Prel Kolli farm in the area. The people of the area are Jalal Ahmad, Kabir Ahmed, Basir Ahmad, Jasim Uddin, Gias Uddin, Zia, Riyadh and 10/12 people involved in the sale of government-owned hills and private-owned hills. The area has sold the hill area owned by forest department, said the locals in the same situation in the Adhamtagram and Taitaya areas too.
In this context, the Officer-in-Charge of the PMakhali ranges of Cox’s Bazar North Forest Department said. Jahangir Alam said, as soon as the incident of cutting of Khurshakul hills is concerned, the concerned officials have been ordered to go to the spot. At the same time, action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
Saiful Ashraf, assistant director of Cox’s Bazar office of the Department of Environment said, “Law enforcement action will be taken immediately after cutting of Khurushkul hills.”
Cox’s Bazar Forest Department officer Haque Mahbub Morshed said that the Range Officer has already been ordered to take action against the people involved in climbing hills and stop cutting mountains.
