One hundred bed Bandarban Sadar Hospital is being upgraded to 250 beds. The public works department of the government is implementing the project costing around Tk 35 crore. On Tuesday morning, State Minister for the Hill Ministry, Bir Bahadur Ushising MP laid the foundation stone of 250-bed hospital as the chief guest. Deputy Commissioner Daulatul Islam, Superintendent of Police Zakir Hossain Majumdar, Civil Surgeon Dr. Divisional pru Marma, public works department’s superintending engineer Monirul Islam, Chittagong Hill Regional Council member Kajal Kanti Das, Sadar Upazila Chairman Abdul Kuddus, Resident Medical Officer Dr Majedul Islam, Health Department officials were present. On this occasion a discussion meeting was organized at the hospital premises. In 1989, 50-bed Bandarban Sadar Hospital was upgraded to one hundred beds in 2001. The largest hospital in the Bandarban Hill District is now being upgraded to 250 beds. This hospital is playing an important role in the health system of the upazila.
In the meeting, State Minister Bir Bahadur said, medical treatment has been a great improvement in the system during this government. In addition to the new community clinic in Bandarban, nursing training institute is being established. District hospitals and Upazila Health Complexes are also being modernized. A new ambulance has been provided for patients in remote areas.
The foundation stone of the new education building: The foundation stone of the new education building has been given at Bandarban District Council office premises at a cost of around Tk 6 crore in the cloud area near the city. State Minister for Hill Bir Bahadur MP gave the basis of construction work as the chief guest. Deputy Commissioner Daulatul Islam, Superintendent of Police Zakir Hossain Majumdar, Chief Executive Shahidul Islam and others were present in the meeting.
