Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) has signed an agreement with UK-based private company to start production of environmentally friendly and perishable polymer bags from Jute on commercial basis. – BSS
BJMC secretary AKM Tarek on behalf of BJMC and General Manager of the company, Prof. Kouillhard signed the agreement on the behalf of UK-based private firm Footamura Chemical, in the conference room of Textile and Jute at the Secretariat.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Textiles and Jute Mirza Azam, Secretary of the Ministry Foyjur Rahman Chowdhury, Chairman of BGMC said. Md. Dr. Mahmudul Hasan the inventor of the making of corrosive polymer bags. Mobarak Hossain was present at the signing ceremony. Mirza Azam said at the signing ceremony that commercial production of polymer bags will start commercially within 6 to 9 months. Initially, the price of this polymer bag will be slightly higher than the normal polythene bag. But if the production increases, the price will be adjusted.
He said the name of this polymer bag made from jute will be ‘golden bag’. This is the name of the Prime Minister’s own choice. The Jute mill polymer bag will be known in this name all over the world. The Textile and Jute Minister said that after the Awami League government came to power in 2009, the number of products produced from jute was 35. In the last ten years of the Awami League government, the number of these products has increased to 285. Once known as Golden Fiber (Golden Fiber), this jute will be known as Golden Bar in future. Responding to one of the journalists, he said that the demand for gold bag in the market will be huge.
If we can produce 500 tons of golden bags per day, then 500 tons can be marketed. Mobarak Hossain, inventor of polymer bag making from the plate, said this golden bag is environmentally friendly and able to produce again.
It looks like polythene bag but it is not polythene, it is a depleting polymer bag.
