The court has upheld the bail of Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case. Besides, two accused in the court. The court has fixed September 30 as the verdict of Ziaul Islam Munna and Monirul Islam Khan on the grounds of the mischief and the other one’s bail application. Judge of the fifth Special Judge’s Court established on Wednesday (September 26th) in Old Central Jail of Nazim Uddin Road, Old Dhaka. Md. Akhtaruzzaman ordered this.
Advocate Sanaullah Mia and Masud Talukder, defense lawyers presented arguments first in the court proceedings beginning at 11am. They urged Khaleda Zia to continue the bail, saying that the senior lawyer who presented the arguments in this case mainly argues that she is ill and others suedhas been filed.
Besides, we would like a written order for Khaleda’s treatment and hospital admission to the court. Above all, we are applying time to the court.
Anti-Corruption Commission Public Prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajol said, “We have objection to the bail application. I think there is no need to present arguments. There is no chance of time here in law. Apart from this, I request an application for not keeping bail. The defendants of this case are not present in the arguments and they are not helping the court. They are absent due to various pretensions. Above all, I request a quick settlement of the lawsuit. Besides, I appeal to announce the date of the verdict of the case.
Meanwhile, the defense lawyers again said that they (the state’s lawyers) are talking about cooperation but they are not doing it. Khaleda Zia is ill, but she does not say anything about her treatment. The case will be completed soon after its treatment. If there is a fault due to the political behavior of state prosecutors that ‘the trial of justice has been passed’ then he will take the responsibility?
In view of such a statement, Kajal again said, we had already applied to keep bail. We told the court that the defendants did not come to the court because the lawyers were angry. So, the defendants should be surety. Even after such incidents, they say we are not cooperating.
The arguments of the two sides presented the judge. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said the bail of the accused Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust case will be upheld. Apart from the plea of ​​the accused, the order of others’ bail order and the order for non-existence of the court will be adjourned on 30 September.
