A few CNG taxi stands in the alarms three meters away from Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Some drivers were beside the hopes of picking passengers. Suddenly, a truck carrying a truck hit the taxi on unimaginable speed. In this moment, four taxi drivers and one passenger were killed. Three others were injured in the incident.
The accident occurred at around 6:30 am on Tuesday at the Thakurdighi Bazar area of Mirsarai. The deceased were identified as Mosharraf Hossain, 25, son of Abdur Rahman of East Durgapur village under Durgapur union, Didarul Alam, 35, son of late Nurul Haque of the same village, Mohammad Nur Nabi, son of Mohammad Ali of East Gradiya of Mirsharai sadar union. Kamrul Islam (22), son of late Shamsul Haque of Raipur village under Durgapur union, Mohiuddin (60), son of late Badiul Alam of Jammadar village of Ikakhali Union, The injured were Mohammad Rubel, Noor Nabi and Liton.
Police and witnesses said that several taxi stands from the morning on the stand of Thakurdighi-Jhulanpul-Madhabarhat route in Mirsarai upazila. Some drivers were standing there in hopes of the passengers. Around 6:30 am, suddenly a Dhaka-bound truck hit the trucks, leaving the trucks standing three meters away from the highway. Three taxi drivers and a passenger were killed on the spot. Later, a taxi driver was killed on the way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Three others were injured in the incident. Among them Rubel (14) and Mohammad Nabi (28) were released with primary treatment. One of the injured, Liton, 26, is undergoing treatment at Mirsharai Upazila Health Complex (Mastan Nagar Hospital).
Lutfar Rahmanjanan, Deputy Assistant Community Medical Officer of Mastan Nagar Hospital said , Liton fears that he is undergoing treatment at the hospital. After the accident, Rubel and two other prophets were released with the first aid.
Thakurdighi-Jhulanpul-Madhabarhat Taxi Driver Association president Jamal Uddin alleged that the truck driver was almost asleep. About 20 meters away, the truck started moving out of the road. If the driver was in normal condition then there would be no accident. The taxi driver association demanded compensation to the families of the injured taxis and killed drivers, said, “In addition to the death of 5 people in the accident, 5 of the taxi was completely damaged. Whose estimated value is 20 lakhs The casualties of the deceased were all expensive We want to compensate the affected families from the government and truck owners. ”
After the incident, the rescue operation of the Kumira Fire Service Unit of Mirsarai and Sitakunda was carried out. Kumami unit station officer Shamsul Alam said the bodies were handed over to the relatives. Jurarganj Police Station arrested the assailant truck driver.
