In the case filed by the ICT Act on charges of harassing the Prime Minister through social gathering, the Court sent Chittagong University (CU) teacher Maidul Islam to jail. The defendant’s lawyer, Dulal Lal Bhamim told Purbkon, “The High Court was given an interim bail of eight weeks. After surrendering eight weeks after the bail, the court gave an order to send the prisoner without granting bail to the lower court. He also said that he will request bail application in higher court. “Iftekhar Uddin said,” The BCL leader Iftekhar Uddin said, “Being a general worker in the BCL, the matter of conspiracy cannot be accepted by the Prime Minister in some way. I am satisfied with this verdict in the court. It needs to be an example, so that in the future no one can dare to comment against the generals. ‘
On July 23, the Chittagong University’s Sociological Department Assistant Professor Maidul Islam filed a case with the Hathazari Police Station under Section 57 of the Information Act, under the provisions of Section 57 of the law, if former student leader Iftekhar Uddin. Earlier BCL leaders and activists gave a memorandum to the university vice-chancellor to terminate the teacher. Maidul Islam of sociology department left the campus along with his family on July 15 after Chhatra League men issued public threats directing him and his family. He has notified the matter to university authorities, but to no avail.

The following day, BCL searched for him at his office and lodged a complaint against Maidul to the department chairperson. They demanded necessary steps against him, claiming that Maidul has been instigating students and teachers and spreading hate speech against the government on Facebook.

The next day, a group of BCL men submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor against two teachers including Maidul accusing that they had posted defamatory remarks against the prime minister and had urged the students to create anarchy on the campus.The BCL men have also announced the teachers “unwelcome” on the campus.
