A head-on collision between a van and a private car occurred in Kalai Upazila of Joypurhat. Two passengers of the van were killed in the incident. In addition, two people, including the driver of the van, were seriously injured. Locals rescued the injured and admitted them to Kalai Upazila Health Complex. The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the Bansher Bridge area of ​​the upazila on the Joypurhat-Bogra highway. Kalai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahid Hossain confirmed the matter.
The two deceased are – Mofazzal Hossain Mondal (40), son of the deceased Lokman Hossain of Bhugoil village in Kalai Upazila, and Idris Ali (60), son of the deceased Shahabuddin of the same village.
On the other hand, the two injured are – Nurul Islam Akand, a van driver of Bhugoil village in Kalai Upazila, and Ashraf Ali of Burail village.
OC Zahid Hossain said that van driver Nurul Islam Akand was going to Punat Bazar from Bansher Bridge area with some passengers in his battery-powered van. On the way, there was a head-on collision with a speeding private car. Two van passengers were killed on the spot. Two passengers including the van driver were injured. Locals rescued the injured and first brought them to Kalai Health Complex. Later, the van driver was shifted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Police reached the spot on receiving information and recovered the bodies.
