Out of the 602 puja mandaps in Brahmanbaria during autumn Durgotsav, the police have mentioned 394 as normal and 208 as important. Among them, 148 mandaps of Nasirnagar are kept in the general list. This information was presented in the exchange meeting held on Thursday along with the Puja celebration. Essentially, the ‘dangerous’ are considered important by the police. However, Nirmal Chowdhury, General Secretary of Nasirnagar Puja Celebration Parishad expressed doubts about the puja in his area. He alleged that the accused in the 2016 30 Nasirnagar communal attack cases are now roaming around on bail. Due to which there is apprehension about the peaceful puja in their area. He appealed for extra vigilance there due to the fear of unexpected incidents.
The meeting was held on Thursday morning in the conference room of the Superintendent of Police on the occasion of the preparation of Sharidiya Durgotsav. Under the chairmanship of Superintendent of Police Shakhawat Hossain, Somesh Ranjan Roy, Sanjeev Saha Bappi, Nitish Chandra Roy, Montu Ranjan Saha, Sanjay Saha, Kartik Chowdhury, Sanjay Chowdhury and others spoke in it.
According to the information received from the meeting, the highest number of 148 pujas in the district will be held in Nasirnagar. Apart from this, 133 pujas will be held in Nabinagar, 79 in Sadar, 57 in Vijaynagar, 52 in Kasba, 48 in Sarail, 46 in Bancharampur, 23 in Akhaura and 16 in Ashuganj. Compared to last year, there will be 11 more pujas this year. According to the information presented by the police, there are no important cities in Nasirnagar as well as in Kasba upazila. 57 in Sadar, 16 in Ashuganj, 32 in Sarail, 46 in Nabinagar, 12 in Bancharampur, 20 in Akhaura, 25 in Vijaynagar are considered important.
