121st death anniversary of Nawab Faizunnecha Choudhurani celebrated in Laksam

The 121st death anniversary of Nawab Faizunnessa Chowdhurani, the only woman Nawab of the subcontinent, the pioneer of women’s awakening, Ekushey Medalist (posthumous) Nawab Faizunnessa Choudhurani, was observed at Saksam in Comilla.
On Monday (September 23), Laksam upazila administration, Nawab Faizunnessa Government College and Nawab Faizunnessa and Badrunnesa affiliated high schools celebrated the death anniversary of this noble woman with due dignity at the Upazila Parishad auditorium.
On the anniversary of the death, various programs are held including discussions, prayers, laying wreaths on the graves. Laksam upazila executive officer Abdul Hai Siddiqui was present as the chief guest.
Apart from that, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Prasad Kumar Bhawal, Upazila Social Service Officer Novel Chandra Das, Senior Fisheries Officer Md Shawkat Ali, Nawab Faizunnecha-Badrunnecha High School Principal Kamal Hossain Helal, Nawab Fayjunnecha Foundation Member and Laxam Journalist Union President Kamal were also present. Uddin, Laxam Journalist Union General Secretary Abdur Rahim, Journalist Union Organizing Secretary Salim Chowdhury Hira, Journalist Mosiur Rahman Salim, Noor Uddin Jalal Azad, Mozammel Haque, Abul Hossain Babul, Afratul Karim Rimu, Delwar Hossain and teachers and students of Nawab Faizunnecha Government College.
Highlighting various aspects of Nawab Faizunnecha Chaudhurani’s working life, the speakers in the discussion meeting said that this noble woman used to practice extraordinary literature even in the midst of various engagements including managing the zamindari. The immortal creation of his poetic pursuits ‘Rupjalal’ his creative work should be cherished in our thoughts and minds. Speakers in the meeting, Nawab Faizunnecha Chaudhurani’s biography included in the textbooks at primary and secondary levels and demanded the present government to celebrate Nawab Faizunnecha Choudhurani Day in Bangladesh.
Incidentally, in 1834, Nawab Faizunnecha Chaudhurani was born in the village of Paschimgaon zamindar in Laksam. His father’s name was Zamindar Ahmad Ali Chowdhury. Mother’s name is Arfannesa Chowdhury. His parents fondly called him ‘Faizun’. When Faizun was 10 years old, his father died. Faizunnessa’s life was going on with her mother. After some time after her mother’s death in 1855 AD, Faizunnessa took over the responsibility of father’s zamindari. He died on September 23, 1903. This noble woman is lying in eternal sleep next to the ten-domed mosque built by her in Paschimgaon.
