12 BNP leaders injured in A-League attack in Tangail

 On the way to the BNP rally in Dhaka, there was a surprise attack on the Dhanbari Upazila BNP and its affiliated Chhatra Dal leaders and activists of Tangail. It is said that 12 activists were injured in this incident.

The incident took place at Nagda Shimla market of Golpalpur upazila around 2 am on Tuesday (July 11). Several of the injured are undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital. The injured in the attack are Dhanbari Upazila BNP Joint General Secretary Zahedul Islam Mohabbat, Upazila Chhatra Dal convener Md. Sharif Hossain, Member Secretary Saiful Islam, Joint Convener Vijay Sarkar, Baniajan Union Chhatra Dal President Antar Hasan, Jadunathpur Union Chhatra Dal President Saiful Islam Sumon, General Secretary Mamun Khan. Also Bolibhadra Union Chhatra Dal General Secretary Rakibul Hasan, Upazila BNP President Principal MA Azizur Rahman’s son Mirza Habib Hasan, Mushuddi Union Chhatra Dal President Swadhin, Birtara Union Chhatra Dal General Secretary Sohan Hasan and the driver of the microbus. It is learned that the leaders of Dhanbari Upazila BNP, Juba Dal and Chhatra Dal left for the party rally in Nayapaltan on Tuesday night in a micro bus. When the microbus reached Shimla market of Gopalpur upazila at around two o’clock in the night, they were attacked with indigenous weapons.

In this incident, 12 people were injured by Elopathari knife and stick. They were rescued from there and taken to Dhanbari Upazila Health Complex first. They were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in the night for better treatment as the condition was alarming.

Dhanbari Upazila BNP President Principal Abdul Azizur Rahman said that when BNP, Jubadal and Chhatra Dal leaders and activists reached Gopalpur Shimla Bazar, the government party leaders and activists stopped the microbus and ambushed them. 12 activists of Microbus were injured. The condition of three of them is critical. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalpur Police Station Mosharf Hossain said, I have heard about this matter. However, it was not confirmed who caused the incident. Necessary action will be taken subject to investigation if complaints are received.
