1 person sentenced to death and 12 acquitted in Ripon murder case discussed in Rajbari

The court has sentenced a defendant named Jamal Pattandar to death in the murder case of Saiful Islam Ripon, a fourth year student of law department of South East Private University in Rajbari.

Rajbari District and Sessions Judge Court judge Mosa Zakia Parveen announced the verdict on Sunday (August 6) afternoon. At that time the convicted accused Jamal Pattandar was absent. The court acquitted 12 other accused in this case.

According to the source of the case, miscreants shot and killed Saiful Islam Ripon, son of Daulatdia union BNP president Mohan Mondal, at the gate of Kalpana Akter’s house gate of Daulatdia in the district on March 7, 2014. The next day, Md. Khalil, the uncle of the deceased Ripon, filed a case naming 5 people and 8-10 unknown names as the plaintiff. Later, after the investigation, the police issued a charge sheet mentioning the names of 13 people.

In this regard, lawyer Ashraful Islam Asha said, after 9 years, the court gave a beautiful verdict. We are satisfied with this verdict. The guilty were punished and the innocent were acquitted.

Mohan Mandal, the father of the deceased Ripne, said, “I am not satisfied with this verdict, I will appeal against the verdict in the high court.”

In this regard, Rajbari Judge Court Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Wazir Ali said, after a long hearing, 1 person was hanged and 12 people were acquitted in this case. We are satisfied with this verdict. ‘
