2 injured, 1 killed while bathing in a pond in Barura, Cumilla.
On Wednesday afternoon, a pick-up loaded with gas bottles overturned and fell into the pond at the mosque pond of Paschim Para Samaj in Ward No. 3 of the Barura Municipality on Jhalom Road. At that time, three children were buried under the pick-up while bathing in the pond. With the help of locals, fire service personnel rescued the three and took them to the Barura Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared a child named Jisan, son of Md. Faruk Hossain of Barura village, dead. The other two were sent home after receiving treatment.
Local sources said that the pick-up loaded with gas bottles was passing a car on the other side of the road while entering the market from the west to the east. Due to carelessness, the pick-up truck, which was loaded with bottles, overturned and fell into the pond. At this time, the driver and helper jumped out and saved their lives. The Barura Fire Service team reached the spot and rescued the vehicle along with the cylinder.
